Marlies Oester Retiresof Active Ski Sport
Marlies Oester announced her retirement of the active skisport today. In December 2005 she contracted a cruciate ligament crack in a training session in Colorado / USA and therefore she was not able to take part in the worldcup season 2006 / 2007. To return back to the world elite after such a big injury, seams to be impossible for the 29 year old Swiss of Bern, especially the Swiss Team wants to create a new slalom Team with young athletes. Marlies Oester achieved during over 150 worldcup races as best results in 2002 the victory in Berchtesgarden / Germany and in 1996 the second place in Sestriere / Italy. The height of her career were the win of the bronze medal at the world championships 2003 in St. Moritz / SUI in the discipline combination and the fourth place at the Olympic Games 2002 in Salt Lake City / USA also in the discipline combination.
Marlies, the cooperation with you was a great pleasure for us and we wish you a great time and good luck in the life after professional skiing!
